Legal notice, privacy and terms

Legal notice
Publisher
SB Layout is a free beta published by a private individual. As French law allows non-professional publishers (article 6, III, 2 of the LCEN, law of June 21, 2004), the publisher's identity is held by the hosting provider named below and is not published here.
To reach the publisher, use Report a bug in the app — in the editor's user menu, or the flag button of a shared storyboard — and leave your e-mail address.
Hosting
The website is served by Vercel Inc., 440 N Barranca Avenue #4133, Covina, CA 91723, United States (privacy@vercel.com).
Accounts, projects and files are stored by Supabase Pte. Ltd., 65 Chulia Street #38-02/03, OCBC Centre, Singapore 049513, on servers located in the European Union (Stockholm, Sweden).
Intellectual property
The SB Layout software, its name, logo and design belong to their author. The storyboards, images and texts you create or upload remain yours (see the terms of use below).
Privacy policy
This policy explains what personal data SB Layout keeps, why, for how long, who helps us process it, and what you can do about it. The controller is the publisher of SB Layout (see the legal notice), reachable through Report a bug in the app.
In short: we keep what the app needs to work, for as long as it needs it. No advertising, no sale of data, no tracking or analytics, and your storyboards are never used to train artificial intelligence.
What we keep, why, and for how long
| Data | Why | Legal basis | Kept |
|---|---|---|---|
| Your account: e-mail address, name if you give one, password (stored hashed, never readable), sign-up date; if you sign in with Google, the name and profile picture of your Google account | To give you an account and sign you in | Contract | Until you delete your account |
| Your content: projects, pictures, captions, drawings, timing, version history (the last 60 versions of each project) | To provide the service | Contract | Until you delete it or your account |
| Share links, and the comments left on them: the commenter's name and e-mail, the comment, attached pictures, a one-way fingerprint of their network address (the address itself is never stored) | So the people you share with can review your work; to stop abuse | Legitimate interest | As long as the share link exists |
| Collaborators: the e-mail addresses you invite to a project | To give them access | Contract | Until they leave or the project is deleted |
| Error reports sent by the app: the error, the page, the browser, the app version, the project open, a random session number | To find and fix bugs | Legitimate interest | 30 days |
| Bug reports you send: your message, your e-mail if you give it, a screenshot if you attach one, the same technical details | To answer you and fix the problem | Legitimate interest | Screenshot: until the report is closed. Report: 12 months after it is closed, 24 months at most |
| E-mails the app sends (invitations, shared storyboards, answers to your reports): recipient, subject, delivery status | To know a message was delivered | Legitimate interest | 12 months |
| The waitlist: your e-mail address, when you joined, a one-way fingerprint of your network address | To tell you when the open beta starts or when SB Layout launches; to stop abuse | Consent (you can ask us to remove it) | 30 days after your invitation, 12 months at most; removed as soon as you create an account |
| Invitations: the address we invite, when the invitation was sent and used | To let an invited person create an account | Legitimate interest | 30 days after the account is created, 12 months if unused |
When you delete your account, your account, projects, pictures, versions, share links and the comments on them are deleted at once. Comments you left on other people's storyboards stay, without your name or e-mail. Your address is also removed from bug reports and from the log of e-mails sent. Backups keep a copy for a short while: 7 days for the database, 30 days for pictures.
Who helps us
These providers process data on our behalf, only to run SB Layout:
- Supabase (Supabase Pte. Ltd., Singapore) — database, accounts and file storage, hosted in the European Union (Sweden).
- Vercel (Vercel Inc., United States) — serves the website; its servers see your network address.
- Resend (Plus Five Five, Inc., United States) — sends the app's e-mails.
- Dropbox (Dropbox International Unlimited Company, Ireland) — backup copy of the pictures.
- Google Fonts (Google), jsDelivr and cdnjs (Cloudflare) — deliver fonts and code libraries; your browser downloads them from their servers, which see your network address.
- projectnaptha.com — language files for text recognition, only if you use it.
Signing in with Google is optional. If you use it, Google (Google Ireland Limited) confirms who you are and gives us your e-mail address, name and profile picture, nothing else from your Google account. Google handles that sign-in under its own privacy policy.
Where a provider is outside the European Union, the transfer relies on appropriate safeguards (the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework).
On your device
SB Layout uses your browser's storage for what it strictly needs: keeping you signed in, your display preference (light or dark), the project you last opened, the comments you posted from this browser, and the demo session. Nothing is used to track you, so there is no cookie banner.
Your rights
You can access, correct, delete or take away your data, object to its use, or ask us to limit it.
- Download your data or delete your account yourself: in the editor, Preferences → Account.
- For anything else, send a message through Report a bug (editor's user menu, or the flag button of a shared storyboard) with your e-mail address. We answer within one month.
- If you think your data is mishandled, you can complain to the CNIL, the French data protection authority: cnil.fr.
Age
SB Layout is not meant for people under 15.
Security
Connections are encrypted, passwords are stored hashed, each account can only reach its own projects, and pictures of a project can only be listed by the people working on it. A share link gives access to whoever holds it: share it with care, and disable it when you no longer need it.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will tell you by e-mail or in the app before it applies.
Terms of use (beta)
By creating an account or using SB Layout, you accept these terms.
1. A beta
SB Layout is in beta: it works, but it is still changing, and some things may break or move. It is provided as it is, without any guarantee of availability. Keep your own exports (PDF, PNG, PowerPoint) of work that matters.
2. Your account
You must be at least 15 and give a valid e-mail address. Keep your password to yourself: what happens with your account is your responsibility. One account is for one person.
3. Your content stays yours
You keep every right on the storyboards, pictures and texts you create or upload. You allow us to store, copy, display and send them only to run the service — for instance to show them to the people you share a link with. We do not use your content for anything else, and never to train artificial intelligence. You confirm you have the right to use what you upload.
4. Share links
Anyone who has a share link can view the storyboard and comment on it. You can disable a link at any time.
5. Fair use
Do not use SB Layout to publish illegal, infringing, hateful or harmful content, to send spam, to attack or overload the service, or to reach data that is not yours. During the beta, each account has limits (for instance 300 MB of pictures, and a number of invitations per day). We may suspend an account that breaks these rules, telling you why when we can.
6. Your ideas
When you send us a suggestion or a bug report, we may use it freely to improve SB Layout.
7. Price
The beta is free. If paid plans come, they will be announced in advance, and nothing will ever be charged without you explicitly subscribing.
Open beta offer. The first accounts created during the open beta, up to the number announced on the home page when they sign up (150 at the opening), will get their first year of a paid plan free when paid plans launch. The offer is tied to the account and ends if the account is deleted.
8. Ending
You can delete your account at any time (Preferences → Account). If the beta or the service ends, we will tell you at least 30 days before, so you can download your data.
9. Liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect damage or for the loss of content that you could have exported. Nothing in these terms limits the rights the law gives you as a consumer.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms; we will tell you by e-mail or in the app before important changes apply.
11. Law
These terms are governed by French law. In case of dispute, write to us first; failing an agreement, the competent French courts will decide.
